Where to Eat at Casino Nova Scotia

The guide starts a show night at the dinner table, and the casino has two restaurants to choose from. The one thing this guide cannot give is their hours, so here is what is known and whom to ask.

3Sixty

3Sixty before the curtain

3Sixty is the casino's restaurant and lounge, with a bar of its own. Its menu moves from appetizers to entrées to desserts. That is enough for a full dinner or just a starter and a drink before the theatre.

The buffet follows a narrower calendar: 3Sixty lays it out on Fridays and Saturdays only, so only a show on one of those nights can begin there. Choosing between buffet and menu before phoning about a table helps, since the answer changes what you ask.

May Garden

May Garden, the second table

May Garden is the second restaurant inside the casino. The operator describes it as a Chinese restaurant. What does it serve, dish by dish? This guide does not go into dishes, and the hours are not posted, so both questions go to the casino at 902.425.7777. The show time is worth mentioning on that call.

Hours

Restaurant hours by phone

Opening hours for 3Sixty, its buffet and May Garden are not posted, so this guide does not guess them. The way to confirm a dinner table is a call to 902.425.7777. Holiday hours are worth checking on the casino's own site or on that same line.

With the table reserved, what comes next? Build the rest of the evening around the theatre box office, which opens 60 minutes ahead of every show. Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or debit, and cash is not taken. The restaurant should hear your show time at the moment of booking.

The card

Points and the dinner bill

On a dinner-and-show night the Player's Club card can matter at the table and beyond. At dinner it means member pricing on food, points spent on food and buffet discounts by tier; beyond it, play-based comps for events and show tickets, and parking. Every one of those depends on play, and none is guaranteed. Book dinner as if the card were not in your pocket; that is the guide's advice.

Getting a card costs nothing. A guest 19 or older shows valid government photo ID and fills in a short application. The same card is used at both Nova Scotia casinos.

Empty stage of the Bruce Guthro Theatre

For a group

A group dinner in the Compass Room

Round in shape, the Compass Room is an event space of more than 2,800 square feet that looks out across Halifax harbour in a panoramic view. Above it rises a 54-foot dome, and its terrace measures more than 850 square feet. It can host private events of up to 200 people.

What if the group is larger? Set for dinner, the Bruce Guthro Theatre takes up to 340 guests, and every event in that room is for guests 19 and over.
